(Home) Front heater fan switch

My Townace is a 2L TD auto 2WD 1990 superextra. The first 2 positions(i.e. 'low' + the next one) of the heater fan switch have stopped working. Last 2 positions work ok. The (aircon?)relay clicks when moving from 'off' to 'low'. I've tried the pin in the relays trick as in the archives but to no avail. Can't find any resistors but I'm not sure where to look. Does anyone have any fixes for this problem?

resistor pack is fitted to the blower duct under the glovebox. One crosshead screw and a 4- pin connector IIRC

Thanks for the info Dave. I didn't realise at first that the resistor pack is actually inside the duct. I guess it's to keep the coils cool. The centre coil had burnt out near one end, must have been something stuck on it causing a hot spot. I uncoiled 1 turn, cleaned up the wire and resoldered it to the connection. Hey presto, all working. I've now been able to fix my daughter's Metro with the same problem.

By the way I asked my local Toyota dealership the price of the RM025E manual. Answer £85! I thought I saw somewhere on the site that it was £8.50. Which is correct?

£8.50, missed the decimal point?
Available mail order from Isle of wight, see Ace Answers

I think I have the same problem. However, bear with if I ask where is the gloverbox located? Could you provide some good pics. Thanks

Try connector B6 halfway down the lefthand side of this diagram http://mpvi.net/ia/pic.htm?pic=../im/ewd147f2/70daspts.gif&txt=70daspts
