(Home) Has any owner had a Lanos bash up their rear

I have had the misfortune of being bashed up the back end by a Daewoo Lanos. (The lady driver had a wet shoe). I was turning left and she pushed me along and nearly into a ballard. Her car was completely crushed into the radiator, with a nice dented V-shape on her bonnet and loads of bits fell off her car. Ours looks normal except for the bumber being marked and dented a little. The funny thing is that the exhaust is the problem as she squashed it in. Her car lifted mine up in the air and down again, but she buckled the exhaust which is now making knocking noises. When it vibrates a lot, it rattles on a piece of metal (the metal bar which is the pivot for the suspension). So, now I am car-less, but am lucky that she has admitted liability and I should get a courtesy car. Will let you know more when it happens. (It's good for my slipped disk too - hey! Just the day before, my MRI scan revealed that I do have a prolapsed disk).

Probably the exhaust took some of the impact. Push for a new one and new bumper!
Hope you are back on the road soon and you get your back fixed, maybe at the same garage???
The things people do get get out of an Ace Jam...
Hope you are ok

Just to let you know, that my Townie is in for repairs and the courtesy car is - Guess What!? a Ford KA - Ha ha! I can't believe that I have to drive one of those, compared what I have been used to over the last 14 years! I can hardly get in, never mind the rest of the family and my disabled dad. I cannot carry any bikes or usual stuff. It has GEARS and NO parking mirror! What a bit of getting used to! I find myself putting my right foot on the break, instead of my left foot on the clutch to get going. Still - better than nothing! At least I can visit my dad in hospital and see to his house! Thank goodness the ambulance takes him there and back on weekends.

As far as insurance is concerned here, CIS are pretty good, but their appointed garage (Ford's in Newport) are very, very slow at helping with a courtesy car and with answering the phone. I waited 6 days for a courtesy car. - Jo

just to let you know that i have my townie back now - 5 weeks after the accident happened. i have a brand new exhaust and a bumper which took 4 weeks to come from japan! i am now getting used to not using my left leg again and only using my right leg (i had a teenee ford ka (courtesy car) for nearly 5 weeks). and i must stop putting the wipers on when i indicate! i find that instead of slowing down for speed cameras, i end up speeding up. the ford ka is a bit nippyier than the townie. at least it's not boring doing 30 in the townie, because in the ka it was really awful. long live my townie!!
