(Home) Security alarm

I want to fit a security system to my 1990 TD. I only need a cat 2 immobiliser for insurance, but I want to incorporate an alarm system that will operate the central locking from a remote. Any suggestions? I have been told the Toad C5 system should do the trick, has anyone tried this out?

Jim. Two and a half years ago, my insurance Co (Norwich Union) wanted a Cat 2 immobiliser fitted. I had a "Sigma" system installed, ie, remote key fob operated central locking, alarm, interior sensors etc and "pin" number isolating facilty via discreetly mounted interior keypad. It cost 225GBP but, it has been totally trouble free.
As Norwich Union seemed to want the earth to reinsure me when renewal time came round, I went Liverpool Victoria and saved 150GBP on my premium. Also,LV did not require a Cat 2 immobiliser but I would not want to be without the convenience which the Sigma installation gives me. I don't know anything about the Toad system, especially price but, if it has all the features of the system which I have, and does not cost the earth, I would go for it.

For £248 I had a Cobra Cat 1 fitted, no problems and remote control. Has to be fitted by registered fitter to get the certificate. Insurance did not require one but got a discount because one was fitted, both with Footman James and LV. Well worth it for peace of mind, even if the blinking diode gets on your nerves when trying to sleep in the ACE.
