(Home) Vibration

Hi Everybody,

I've had my Townie for about six weeks and have posted messages concerning speedo and fuel gauge problems.

I've got a vibration problem that seems to come from the raised section between the front and middle seats.

The vibration feels as if something is 'drumming' or touching the panels.

The vibration does not seem to be there until the engine warms up and gets worse with engine speed.

The only vibration that I've experienced before that is anything like this was on a motor fitted with a new exhaust system when it was touching the floor.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Steve. This is the area where the first section of the exhaust, ie, from the turbo to a flexible section, is situated. As a first step It might be helpful to get under the vehicle and check that this flexible joint and the bolted flange at the turbo, are intact. I should think that you would hear any exhaust "blow" but, your vehicle might have recently been fitted with a replacement exhaust and it could be that it is not quite correrectly lined up.
It's worth checking under the passenger seat, ie, with that section of floor raised, to see if there is anything loose. Also, behind the drivers seat, under the carpet, there is an inspection cover over the turbo. It's worth checking here for anything that might be vibrating against the cover panels.
