(Home) Wiper arm removal

I am replacing the wiper arms on my 1992 Liteace. The nut holding the arm on the spindle is very tight and I'm worried that something will break as the effort required is to great. WD40 doesn't help. Has anyone encountered this? Is it OK to apply more effort? Could heating with a hot air gun help?

Give it a good soaking in WD40 or any other releasing agent and leave it over night, using the wiper arm to counter the spanner/socket leverage undo, take care as replacing the spindle means removing most of the dash! Aslo bear in mind that the spindle/wiperarm joint is splined and it needs to come straight off.
Besk of luck.
