(Home) Radio noise

Hi, can any one tell me why I get an electrical noise when I turn on the lights or other electrical bits on the radio ? may I need some sort of surpressor or could it be dirty voltage ? I think some turkey has had a go at fitting the radio as it doesnt store stations and requires a constant feed.
Other wise I am a convert to toyota MPVs
Thanks Colin.

Sounds like you have the answers already and just need to go through a process of elimination
Petrol or diesel? The ignition circuit on a petrol increase the chances of noise - HT leads etc. - also make sure you have intact earth straps
I would pull the radio to see if its a manufactured adapter socket or DIY connection to the rear -ie:you want the 'correct' feeds (proper adaptor)to it - ensure the case is shielded etc. + good ariel connection
Suppressors may help a little - but it may simply be a case of a nasty cheap radio - I bought one once - as soon as it hit the bin and was replaced with a name brand the problem went
A shop specialising in ICE may help further
