(Home) How to change radiator

How to change radiator on Toyota HiAce (year 1989) DSL 2.4? Even moving the old one out was hard job (cutting the lower water outlet!). Have anyone done that succesfully?

If you have removed the old one surely its just reverse procedure.
I have never done it but would think a very long screwdriver for the bottom hose clip. (band aid handy at this point)
Obviously floor out (a drill with socket adaptor makes short work of this)
viscous coupling needs removing (easy enough)
Rad shroud - (side screws)
Mine is 4wd so poor access from underneath but I would imagine a 2wd would give better access from below.
Also have a nosey at screws accessed from under the wheel arch incase they go into the fan shroud (dont know myself) - the wheel arch does provide access to other key points also and might be utilised.
So, in short, I don't know - but it would be good to read of how its done

Well, it's not that simple. Only way to access is from underneath. I wonder do I have to take some steering rods and things away temporary (hard job)?

Can you tell me how i can confirm a leak in the radiator on my Master Ace Surf.

Sorry about delay in reporting! Allmost everything can be accessed from up.

Removing:

0. Coolant out (if not already leaked)
1. Take passanger's seat away (left driven!)
2. Open the piece of floor under seat (That makes room to operate!)
3. Remove fan's viscous coupling
4. Hoses off
5. Take radiator fan shroud away (four screws)
6. Radiator off (tree screws: one up and two at bottom)

Replacing the new one is reverse procedure.

My opinion to Ben: Radiator (and cooling system in general) is one of the weakest points (and of course corrosion in chassis) in these cars. Renew radiator - don't try to fix.
