Now that I've become paranoid about overheating - another question.
I notice that after running the engine ( 2CT ) up to operating temperature on the temp gauge - the front and back heater work fine ( really hot )- but the bottom hosepipe from the rad to the engine block is only warm. Is this normal ?

Yup, that's the return from the rad. In this weather, the 'stat will be nearly closed a lot of the time...

I think a bit more proactive TLC is required to prevent any more woes !
