(Home) Regulator

my freind has a townace, and its battery keeps going flat l have changed the battery three times, putting a biger one on each time. i have put a new starter moter on. i have checked for short cerckets, non, and checked the out put on fall load of the alternater 14.2 volts. but it still does not hold a charge in the battery for more than 9 monthes. i have removed the alternater (what a f*****g job that was) and sent it to be checked but the engineer wants the regulator???????? i can not find it, can anyone help?
or can any one shead any light on the problem that we are having?

Behind the glove box.

Mark. I should think that there is a small current drain somewhere. The alternator performance seems OK and, with three new batteries any fault here must have been eliminated. Have you checked that the key (ignition) is not worn and is being removed before all the circuits are switched off? Others have had this trouble where the accesories circuit remains live, even with the key removed. I assume that you have checked with a meter, if there is any current flow, from the battery, when everything is tuned off (or should be). You might find some clues in Ace Answers
