(Home) Big end bearings noise?

i recently noticed a rather loud rattle from the bottom of my 2ct engine and thought of the big end bearing instantly, having had loads of work done since buying the townace on the head and cooling system i am rather reluctant to get rid or buy a new engine. Has anybody got any tips to help with the repair or a place where it wont take three months for the parts to arrive, local toyota dealer information. I have also been told that the crank will need replacing at the same time as the bearings does this fit with anybody elses experiance?

The bottom end of these 2CT engines are strong as oxen, so would only cause problems if neglected (wrong oil, lack of oil, extended service intervals) or if high milers. If you are getting a rattle, it could be little ends, linked to top end rebuild, possibly fuelling, or more likely a loose front crankshaft pulley. Do check the pulley as they commonly come loose & fall off & the first sign is a rattle.
