(Home) Smoke screen button

Someone crashed into the townie and beat up the back end, so with the insurance money we decided to buy a Lucida. Driving it back up to Newcastle from London though I wondered if this MPV belonged to "James Bond" and if there was some secret smoke screen button he left on. Really though I'm a bit worried, I've never seen so much black smoke come out of a car. It is black and just poors out huge clouds, but unlike what I've read on the ace answeres it's not only when I accelerate it's also when I'm driving at a cruising speed. There will be a minute of not much smoke, then about 30 seconds of tons of smoke. It's way more then the townie use to put out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've changed the oil, new oil filter, and new air filter but didn't help. By the way the Lucida is a 1995 2.2 TD Auto, otherwise drives nice and is extremely clean. We really like it but it's character really cant compare to the townie.

I'd be looking around the various sensors for the electronic injection system, vacuum hoses, and the boost hoses to and from the intercooler...

Thanks david, I'll see if I can find out something about those things. I dont have very much mechanical knowledge, so I'll have to ask someone else to possibly show me where there located unless you can give me a ruff idea. I am also assuming your refering to looking for any blockage, or loose hoses...ect.

Could be a blown turbo. See post "Turbo".
