(Home) If only the service was reliable

I put my Liteace in for the dreaded MOT test, and it failed on several accounts (except the emissions - which surprised me. That additive and the slam down the dual carriageway must have done the trick!).
They are as follows: Perished windscreen wiper blades (easily replaced); Broken headlight unit mounting brackets - both of them! (I would love to know how this happened! They managed to get replacements from BBC Spares, which I recommended to them!). The other things were a rear anti-roll bar clamp and the Handbrake cable which needed replacing.
The repairers said they had to come from Toyota as no-one else had them.
I have now been waiting for THREE WEEKS! Is this a record?

No, 18 weeks, then Toyota (McCarthy, Sidcup) told me to say that the vehicle is off road when ordering outside of the UK, as Toyota will rush it (by air?) through.
So the moral is always say that the Ace is laid up until you can get the parts.

Over 3 months for anti roll bar brackets!
Oddly, when I pointed out the MOT was due and it would be off the road if it failed on them, they mysteriously arrived within days

6 weeks for a new bumper. I tried to get discount on my tax disc, but I should have taken the disc out and sent it to DVLA, then bought another when I got the car back. Next time I will do that, but I was hoping it would be ready with a new bumper sooner.

As I think I've posted before ALWAYS state VOR (Vehicle Off Road) when parts have to be imported from Japan. It means they ship by air rather than sea. 5 days rather than 3-4 weeks (if you're lucky).

I got my Litie back today. The new headlight units from BBC spares were £71 EACH which oomphed the overall price up!
I shall have to tell the repairers about the VOR if there is a next time. Seeing as though they have several Estimas/Lucidas for sale. Thanks for the tip, Ian.
