(Home) Christmas lights

More woes - after the head gasket failure my 2CT liteace has now decided to stop charging.
Dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree !
All the lights flicker on idle and are on constant when revved - accompanied by that irritating ping ping !
I've followed the recent threads on this problem - so its an Alternater charging issue or volage regulator.
Whats it LIKELY to be brushes, voltage regulator or rectifier ?
Its not charging the battery - checked that with a AVO meter.
What else do I need to check and how do I do it, to identify the source.

Any chance you've disturbed the alternator plug while working on the head? Worth a check. Probably the brushes, although you should check for a field voltage to rule out the reg before you start stripping.

Erm, the fan belt is on, yes? Been there before haven't we, LOL

David,
It was well worth the check you suggested !
Because of the difficult access to the exhaust manifold ( re head gasket )I must have disturbed the terminal connection on the alternater. It was slack !
Had to fit a new nut and a washer because of the arcing.
Many thanks !
