(Home) Insurance, exhaust fire

Ive had a bit of an eventfull day.....going to see the in-laws todays, trundelling along the m40 nicely my beloved townace decided to set on fire!!!! The car is no longer in the land of the living, thankfully we got the kids and dog out onto the hard shoulder safely.
Just wondered if anyone would have any idea how much to expect for a 89 2litre td townie from the insurance company?.
Also depending on the insurance company i may have some good parts for sale....includind a complete 2 week old exhaust. thanks for any help

Oh no!!
Sorry to hear about your fire, glad you & all the loved ones got out OK.

Any idea what caused the fire?

Hope it wasn't the exhaust incorrectly fitted & touching wiring under the car! Worth getting investigated as there is normally a reason for a car to go up in flames. Most Townie problems tend to be due to coolant coming out, not fire coming in.

As regards value for replacement, it really depends on condition & mileage, anything from £2000 for a bit of a scrappy one, to £3500 for a good 'un.

Hope you get it sorted soon!!

Regards Rob.
