My diesel town ace has to be parked on a hill as now and again it just clicks when I try to start it. Goes first time with a bump, but main prob is I don't live by a hill, and have to get a push!

hi there it sounds like the starter motor contact points get them re newed should sort it out pete.

Hi Elaine, have similar problem with mine but found that if you hold the key round in the start position and hold it there it will start. Could be a sticky solonoid.

Not sure about Elaine's, but Paul's problem sounds like the good old voltage drop. I suffered from this on and off for nearly a year, but then got really fed up when a couple of times it wouldn't start at all in the morning but fired up first time when I got back home from work in the evening. So I mentioned this at my last service, and said that the cure (from previous comments in these pages) was to fit a relay in the starter circuit. They put the relay in and I've not had a problem since.
