Brakes stop van just fine but after the light turns green again and the pedal is released I hear and feel a thump. Van also does this if the trans is shifted to neutral after fully stoped and brake pedal is still depressed. I suspect something is loose in the rear end... Suggestions?

Some automatic gearboxes select neutral once the break pedal is depressed, and doesn't engage drive again until it's released. It helps unload the engine a bit in stop go traffic, and saves a bit of fuel.
