(Home) 1987 Liteace problems

Hi I recently bought a 1987 1800 liteace FXV. I was so chuffed and the kids love it! But the day we bought it we came across a few problems on a 30 mile journey.
1) At 70-80mph the car overheated, all else is well. After ready your excellent site I know figure it's the VC as it does somewhat roar!
2) Fuel was worked out to be converted, 17-23 mpg ...ouch! Is there any one who has or anyway a gas conversion could be fitted.....just wondering/
3) Dad says it has a 'dead spot' will an engine tune sort this out?
4) Some of the elecric curtains aren't working, any ideas?
Finally
5) When trying to pull away in 1st it struggles and judders as if pulling away in 3rd or the hand brake is on???
I've looked through some of your pages and can't find any reference to my little MPV, can anyone help.
Many Thanks Val

1. Maybe the VC but there are other things -blocked/past-it rad, incorrect/missing anti freeze blocked hose, missing/faulty thermostat......
2. I assume it's petrol then yes - talk to an auto-gas converter.
3. Maybe - but may also cure 1 and 2 above.
4. The rails may just need a good cleaning, then check the sliders (put non working ones on working rails, if ok it's down to wiring.
5. 3 may sort this or possible clutch problem, has it been standing? may go away with use.
