(Home) Bloody Liteace

This site is great, i have a F reg, 2L, Turbo D, Auto, liteace that i purchased in Southampton so that we could use when we moved to the highlands of Scotland 10 months ago, and have really wished i had not until i found this site, i have all the problems listed here, over heating after spending £1100 for a complete top half engine rebuild, Idle Up not working, battery discharging whilst having 2 new batts fitted and so on.. Thanks to this page i now have the motivation to tackle these problems. Thank you everyone for this great site and i look forward to the day when i can take the wife and five kids for a run back to Southampton to visit family without first planning all the stops to top-up water, fill with oil..etc. One Quick question, what coolent should i be putting into the rad.

I find a 50/50 mix water/anti-freeze works for me.
All you other niggles are covered by Ace Answers Archives.

I'd use a 50/50 mix of a ggod etylene glycol antifreeze & DISTILLED water. It cuts out the problem of impurities causing scaling & clogging of the rad, anything to help the delecate cooling system on these vehicles.

Regards Rob.

Hi Ruth, this is well covered on the archives, but basically you need to press and hold down the black button in order to turn the ignition to the off position and remove the key.
More often than not, the key can be removed at almost any position, because the locks are usually well worn out. If you don't turn the ignition all the way to the off position, some circuits remain on, and drain the battery.
Hope that helps.

Well another tick in the box for me. Liteace having problems starting now fixed. Very easy to remove and strip the starter, the 2 copper contacts cleaned raised and leveled. Starts better than ever and over half turns engine before she starts even when cold. Now on to the idle up problem and then the BIG one, fixing the overheat which is without a doubt the bloody fan VC. Anyone got details of converting to electric they could email me. Soon be time to pack some food for my trip to Southampton with the family 1250 miles round trip in 3 days, that should give it a good test. Any acers in Soton fancy having me round for a coffee.
