(Home) Spacecruiser door open warning light

On the (Spacecruiser) dash between the battery light and the low petrol light there is a light that resembles a car with it's doors open, now the problem is the bulb had gone,so I carefully replaced it,as soon as I put the bulb in it came on,now whether the door is open or closed, ignition on or off,the light stays on,so i've had to remove the bulb, but I want to rectify the problem,as I shouldn't have to remove it,should I?,
Please advise as to what it could be and how to rectify it.
Many Thanks

When my light came on I left it over night it drained the battery. Found out it was the sender from the rear door. Took the latch apart and it worked for a while, ended up cutting the leads to the lock - no dash light sensor for that door, no problem. Still locked on central locking so I lived with it for 6 years. Easy to check just short the leads out and the light will go out on one of your locks.

If I cut wires like you said on rear lock, will the light still come on when front doors open, and go off when they are closed?.
Please advise,as I want it all to work as it should do.

Only cut the wire if you know that it is that lock!
All other doors have the conventional plunger separate from the lock, that activates the interior light and the door open circuit. Have you checked all these, pushing them in by hand?
The rear lock has an extra complication, so makes it the prime candidate, in that it also activates the rear interior light and does not have the conventional plunger separate from the lock.
Open the rear door, undo the bolts holding the lock to the door, wiggle it about so you can see the wires. It will still be connected to the locking rod to don't move/twist it too much. The central locking activator is up by the internal locking button, so you won't find those wires. If you can poke two sharp ends (pins?) into the suppy and return and make a short across them the lock should activate and hopefully the door open light will disappear. If you take the lock apart beware of flying springs.

There is a connector within the rear door. I cut mine as I had the lock apart and fixed it for a few months. I could not be bothered to take the door card of so cut the wires. Try the shorting first and see what happens.

Hi Clive.
Went ahead and disconnected wire, now when I open FrontPassenger and Drivers and Sliding doors, the light on Dashboard comes on and when I close them it goes off again.
Problem solved!
Many thanks Clive, you certainly know your stuff!.
Are you going to AceJam in Bridport?,if so,I'll see you there.
