Just really curious about what EFI stands for on a petrol Masterace?

That'll be Economy Fuel Injection Monica

and there's me thinking it stands for Electronic Fuel Injection Dave :-)

Now why did I go and say Economy?
Wasn't that what it was originally back in the seventies?

Electronic Fuel Injection in the seventies was only the preserve of top of the range Mercs etc, extremely expensive, everyone else had to make do with carbs or mechanical fuel injection, such as the old Lucas system that the Triumphs used, terribly unreliable & the injectors were a service item & and arm & a leg. The only reason we now have engine management, otherwise known as Electronic Fuel Injection is to cut down on emissions, the modern engine managed car has less than 10% of the noxious emissions of a car of thirty years ago, and it's going to get less than that, with the new generation of FSI cars, which are lean burn with a CAT (e-mail me if you want to know how a lower than stoiciometric car can run a CAT, as it's too long to explain here) and direct petrol injection, emissions could be just 10% of current standards in five years time. But yes, EFi does mean Electronic Fuel Injection (in other words the injectors are solenoid operated valves, rather than using a fuel distributor as in the old mechanical systems).

And if you really must know I'm only 34.

Regards Rob.
