if in the past you have been always topping up the rads due to a leak from where ever, you end up with just water in the system and over months or in some cases years the cooling system will rust/corrode from the inside out,i had both rads recored and felt that i had finally fixed my leaks but i still had a small leak and i could not find it,i knew i had a small leak as i was putting in about a 1-2 cup fulls aweek and some weeks it took less water ? i flushed out my system and fill with a good 50/50 mix which had a good anti-corrosion,a week later i was losing so much water that i will not drive my ace,when i got under her i found that one of my 35mm core plugs was leaking and it was very rusted and i could see that its been leaking for a very long time.

looking back and apply logic it seems that my past leaks due to my rads and running engine with a very weak mix in coolant allowed the core plugs to come under attack by rust/corrodsion and end result one of my core plugs started to leak i have now order full set of core plugs and will have these installed soon.

i wonder how many ace owners are in the same position thinking they have renewed the obvious and only to still be left with a small leak which you sometimes cannot see dripping down on road as a hot engine help the water to evaporates,you need to eye ball each core plug or for the hard ones to see get a finger inside one,it will be very obvious if you need to renew it.
i have placed an order with dave coombe at wight motors ltd 01983 405 551,should be with me in afew days,i will post part numbers when i recieve parts

any one out there who is forever topping up coolant spend half an hour an check your core plugs,i would be interested to see how many have found them leaking

Hi Guy's

I have now pick up my core plugs from McCarthy Totota Croydon 0208 649 5900 (very helpful on imports)

iI have full set for core plug replacement to 2CT

Plug T96411-43000 size 30mm Qty 4
plug T96411-43500 SIZE 35MM QTY 4
PLUG T96411-41800 SIZE 18MM QTY 1

I did question the 18mm thinking it would be more then 1 but told i have full set to replace all plug's i will soon know if they are right.

i now have all the parts now for the van to go to my local garage and spend the week there,i am also having the coolant system pressure tested after work to make sure that we have sorted all leaks.
