(Home) Fan problems

My fan goes on before my engine heats up and it useing up a lot of petrol can any tell me why and how to fix it......

i have a toyota carina 2 1991 the fan comes on straight away when i start the car and it is useing a lot of fuel can anybody tell me why and how do i fix it.......thanks clive

Umm, unless it's fitted with the same engine as a townace, no we can't. Have you a manual or wiring diagram? What diagnosis have you attempted already?
Engine type?

You could replace the temp sensor for the fan?
Otherwise there must be a short, or it has been deliberately wired to stay on for some reason.
If its a new acquisition then someone may have bridged the wires to test that the fan functions, but left the bridging piece on. Assume you mean egine fan and not interior one?
