(Home) Cooling system

i want to flush the cooling system on my 1984 model f
have looked at the ace manual on this site .is it the same for my model f .also the water in the rad is green also the filler bottle is this a sign it needs flushing .i want to show my hubby i can sort out my own car lol.ive owned it for two weeks now and its the best buy (£300) i have ever made its got 99999km on the clock the last owner had it from new and it has been parked up for 6 month as the poor guy didnt pass his retest ive covered 1500miles at a average of 30mpg im putting in unleaded fuel as the guy couldnt remember is this right insurance was on £200 fully comp from MRB

Always good to flush the rad from time to time.

Buy a little bottle of rad flush stuff and follow the directions.

By the way, the water being green is exactly what you want to see - that means it has some sort of coolant adative in it.
NEVER just put plain water in it. Even cheap coolant is better than nothing, but don't use tap water - it will cause corrosion in the cooling system.
And not all coolants are green - the toyota one is red!

As it has been laid up for 6 months best follow the advice of DaveW. Also check the tyres for side wall splits/cracks. May also be wise to flush the brake fluid through with new.
Unleaded ok, 30 mpg do you use the pedal on the right?
I tried optimax in my old cruiser, gave it a bit of go. Insurance ok also and all for £300 can't be bad.
Now all you need to do is show it off at an Ace jam or 2.
