(Home) Amber warning light

Recently had a head gasket replaced and head skimmed on a 1991 townace. All seems great and all oil levels
are ok. However shortly after the work was done the amber warning oil light came on. I do not have a manual. Could someone advise if this is a mechanical fault or a dodgy sensor. Thanks in advance.

In connection with the previous message dated 1/23/04
The amber warning light on the dashboard. The light is shown as an oil can with a wiggly line underneath. I recently had a head gasket replaced and oil replaced. Shortly after the work was completed the amber warning light started to come on after the engine warmed up. I have checked the oil levels and all seems ok. The light still comes on, this is now a month later. I understand the light is an indication the the oil level is low, however as previously stated I have checked same and all is ok. I was wondering if the sensor light is faulty and where I could find same on the engine to check it, however I find it strange the light does not come on right away. I am puzzled.

Orange oil can = Low oil.
The sensor is on the engine sump by the cross member, and it has a temperature sensor as well. I'm not 100% sure on this point, but I believe this is to allow the oil some time to warm up before it flags up low. Did you change the oil when you did the head? Maybe a flush and new oil would help. You may have deposits or contamination as a result of the head problem.
