(Home) Buying space cruiser

Hi, I have just come accross your site and found it comprehensive in its expert knowledge.
I am going to look at an E registration Space cruiser with a view to buying.
The year is 1988 and the seller informs me that there are 120000+ miles on the clock.
The MOT runs out in July and the price is £695 ono
Is there anything anybody feels I should know or look out for before embarking on a Toyota adventure.

Cheers Ron

Rust - around bottom edge of the windscreen, around the rear wheel arch, along the bottom edge of the body often referred to as "sills" and just under the rear screen. Not a major problem but may involve a lot of work. The Toyota underseal protects most of the underside, so there should be little to worry about, do check the battery box though.
Engine/drive chain should be ok, and replacements are easy to get. Suspension again parts easy but some are Toyota only and Toyota prices. Exhaust is one of the more expensive non CAT types but kwikfit stock them.
If the body is in good nick may be a good buy, if there is any major rust knock them down a bit.
Should be good for another 120,000.
One last thing have a test drive, you may not like the driving position!
Best of luck.
