All toyota diesels use the same sized battery, but they are handed- some have reversed terminals. This info is in the archives I believe...

Cheers for the info, I have already looked through the archives, but still can't find any model numbers?

Hang on, just found my old Exide book- it's either 249TE or 250TE in their parlance. 249 has the + on the right when the terminals are near you, the 250 is the opposite.
80Ah- Ahh, maybe that's the problem, we've mixed 80&90 up at some stage?
323x175x195/215mm, no DIN standard reference.

Graham. My original posting should be in the archives but, here are the details again.
Finding a 90 a/h was difficult and I found that even the Toyota dealers were none too helpful, only offering a 70 a/h to suit the battery box dimensions. However, I fitted an Exide EXI017SE which has a rating of 88 A/H. It's a shoehorn fit into the battery box and,you have to cut off the lifting lugs at each end of the battery to get it to fit but, the terminals are correct, ie, the standard Japanese layout. Exide also do a 95 A/H version with the same outside dimensions, code EXI1077E but it's a bit heavier. My battery has peformed perfectly and, I think, they carry a four year guarantee.

Graham,
Patchway autoparts (almost opposite Toyota Garage), on the Patchway roundabout can supply. they can also check your present one and if the alternator is doing it's job.
