any tips on opening my tailgate on my townace 1988?key won`t work and i pull up the locking button on tailgate and twist handle inside to no avail.only front two doors work on central locking button on drivers door button panel.is this normal?help!!!!!

Tail and slide door should work also.
Does the key turn?
Does the CL solenoid clunk?
The opening control rod goes from about where the key goes in (where the CL solenoid is also) to the lock. the door button is a on a rocker with this rod.
You can remove the panel and get to the operating rod/lock from inside the door. I would guess that the lower rod has detached itself.

Hi just had the same prob with mine could'nt open the little beast either with key or handles had to strip down the inner panel undo the connecting rod and bolts outside holding the lock assy in place(mind the courtesy light switch wire).The lock has a lever sticking out of it, and this is on a pivot and it had siezed. Copious amounts of plus gas and then some thick gear oil and it is now the best the rear door has ever opened.
