(Home) Overheating problems

as a townace owner of just 6 days,i was very pleased to find this website,as it`s been very helpful.it has certainly made me aware of any potential problems, but should i consider modifications even though it`s running fine at the moment?as far as i`m aware,it`s had no fan modification, but a recent replacement radiator.how do i know if the radiator cap is ok?i`m aware of the replacement ones to prevent fluid loss, but am unsure which it has right now.i checked the coolant level after 3 days and it was very near top of filler cap, with a little bit in the expansion tank.i`m also thinking of changing radiator hoses.how many are there and is it an easy job?help!!

Hello Jamie
There is a section in the online hand book that details how to check the drawback mechanism of the radiator cap. Copy this to your address bar http://mpvi.net/ie/iedbrcap.htm

The correct type of radiator cap has a plastic float in the centre rather than a sprung loaded plunger. The Toyota part number is 16401-64501
The best modification you can do is to fit a temperature alarm. The details are also on the archives at www.townace.com
Is there any known history to your van or is it a fresh import?
