(Home) Hot cold box

how hot or cold should my hot/cold box get?my aircon seems ok,but when i switch the box to hot/cold or ice,i don`t hear anything `kick in`but on hot it does get warm, with warm air blowing into it.does my aircon need `charging`,and how do i tell which gas it`s running on,and therefore how much it`ll cost to convert/recharge etc?

mine works with or without the aircon on,I dont think it makes a difference but it takes quite a while to get ice cubes frozen, it keeps things lovely & cold though (or takeaways hot!)

What do you fill the containers up with that are in the box? I've seen it on the ace answers, but now can't find it again. x

Eh? Do you mean the ice cube trays? It's asking a bit much to make ice. Never quite achieved it. Best bet is to stick them in your home freezer the night before your journey then transfer to coolbox in the morning which will keep them as ice for the duration of your journey.

I just had the icebox fixed on my hiace super and it will now make ice cudes in 15 minutes flat!

I got a guy from Go Cool services in Bristol to service and regas the system and we found that the expansion valve in the Ice box was full of junk almost bloking the gas route. It would get cool but that was it. Anyway I ordered a new valve from Toyota £56 and he drained cleaned and regassed the system.

When I stuck my hand in the ice box onto the heat exchanger and turned it on to test as I've done before, my hand instantly stuck to the metal when the compressor kicked it ! Amazing, bit of a silly sod, but amazingly fast freeze.

The guy reckons the build up of crud was probably due to lack of use of that park of the system for many years.

Hi just read this section. If your box does not make ice you need to get the system looked at. mine is great it makes ice in less than 20 mins we use it a lot in the summer for making cold drinks at flying shows we go to and in the winter I carry a plastic flsk(milk bottle and use it to keep warm soup on the way to fishing trips can't fault it
