Greetings from Australia!
I drive a 1986 Lite Ace - it's a KM36 body with a 5K-C 1.5 petrol motor and a 4-speed manual 'box with column shift. I want to convert it to floor shift and I think I have a fairly clear idea what is required. I know I'll need a new engine cover, new front seats and of course a centre console which includes the gear lever and linkages, but the only trouble I'm having is finding a suitable donor vehicle. Does anybody have any tips, advice, etc on this procedure? i.e. is it possible? Is it easy? Is it recommended? Has anybody done this before? Anything would be appreciated, please email me if you can help!

I know for certain that the Xtra-trac version (4X4) of the liteace came with a floor shift, but don't know about the 2WD.
I don't recall seeing a floor shifter 2WD, but I haven't really taken any notice.
Maybe a Tarago shifter/console would fit - with a bit of modification.
The seats should be no worries - second hand bucket seats should bolt straight up - just check the mounting rails - the bolt holes should be there under the carpet somewhere.
My brother changed an onld Falcon from column to floor, and fabricated it all himself - He's no wizz with the spanners, just average, so it shouldn't be too difficult (although a Falcon is a bit easier than these I think!)
Have fun,
Dave.
