the local mechanic tells me that the reason for my poor starting is that the glowplugs are no good but he cant find any, does anyone know where to source some or part numbers, please

umm, not much of a mechanic... he wants to go to the factors and ask for a set of glowplugs for a toyota 2c. the voltage is marked on them, as is the nippon denso part number. but it's 11v for superglow system.

fai number is ggp43.

this guy doesnt fill me with confidence he took it in for a fuel leak at the pump and the startings been crap since he now reckons heater plugs ...i,m not convinced..

fuel leak = air leak. If the pump is draining down overnight, poor cold starts will be the result...

And don't necessarily blame the Glowplugs if they don't work. If he has stripped the area around the fuel pump then he may not have put things back correctly and caused a short. A dimwit mechanic did that to mine a few years back. Check the 80A fuse behind the driver's seat to see if it has blown. If it has then check for continuity through to the plugs.

Better still take the vehicle to another garage that have worked on these before.
