(Home) Diesel leak 2l td Townace

i have a leak from an area behind what can only be described as a large spring,
it looks as though it may be a gasket,
is there any photos/drawings that i can look at to give a better description of the problem and so then ask for the real advice of how to repair it.
many thanks richard

Try Ace Answers (link above), Ace Handbook, ENGINE, Picture: "Engine (2C-T) air filter area", bottom left hand corner. Is that your large spring, on the side of the fuel pump?

hi dave you are right the leak is coming form the base of that spring re photo,
can i just undo the allen screws and fit a new seal?
is ti gaket paper or an o ring ?
any advice is much appreciated

hi neil i have removed the spring/control shaft,
i may have made the mistake of removing the springs from the assembily wouled you advise re building this as a whole unit before re fitting with new o ring,
which ever way you are well right, this is going to be
a real cow bag to refit.

yes you have to reassemble first and then reffit the unit, took me a whole day of struggling to work that out. have you got cross head bolts or are they allen bolts on yours, mine were cross heads replaced with allen bolts as much easier to do up.

many thanks neil the bolts are allen head,
i think i will change them to dome type allen head as it may give more clearance to work,
flexible ball type allen key will also come in handy,
couled i ask what is it that i have taken off ?
as i have never worked on a diesel before,
kindest regards richard.

not sure what it, make sure you get a good quality o ring as i used a cheap one first and think the diesel rotted it and was leaking again with in six months, got mine from toyota dealer was about £4.....

i have a nitrile o ring hope this will do,
its a normal standard material if it goes ill change it for a viton o ring,
i have will fit the unit tomorrow and let you know thanks again. rich
