(Home) Lucida throttle adjuster

The throttle adjuster(small black box on top of engine)on my lucida Estima 4wd turbo diesel automatic has snapped off. I have managed to weld it back on but the performance with the turbo and gear change is very erratic. I notice that the box is adjustable by loosening a screw and turning the unit to the left or right. Does anyone know of the right setting for this unit and how to go about setting it, or is it a main dealer job and lots of money!

If this was a 2CT engine in a Townace I would say you are describing the non-essential "throttle" position sensor which cuts out the aircon load when you push your foot down past a certain point - hence the adjustment.
It is a rotary variable resistor with a bias spring to hold it in contact with the peg on the accelerator-position-input shaft to the fuel pump. It easy to fit it wrongly which may mean it's jamming the rotation of that shaft. Alternatively you may have upset the nearby kickdown cable adjustment.
