(Home) Radiator cap

i have had my 1988 townace masterace 2.0 petrol efi auto for 3 weeks, and have kept a close eye on the cooling system.i do about 150-200 miles a week,in mainly short journeys.each week the coolant level drops in the main reservoir,by about half a pint or so,and the level in the expansion tank rises accordingly.this says to me that i am not losing coolant from the system, but just into the expansion bottle.the coolant is always a clear blue colour.
i examined the hoses, all seems ok there, though the one in the expansion tank is a bit soft.
the radiator cap says`nissan`and `0.9` on it.is this the famous`small nissan` cap?is ther an advantage of this one over the toyota replacement?i understand that pre 1990 townace caps are not the float type.

Sounds like you are losing pressure on cooling down. Could be the cap but would look at the pipes and their connections first. If the one going down into the coolant in the expansion bottle looks loose or split then replace it.
