HELP! i am in a bit of a fix, I think the wheel bearings on my dear old 4wd townie are on the way out or have left the building (its a 1989 model) my wife has just lost her job so money is tight, can I change the bearings myself and can anyone give me some pointers on how to approach this?
When driving it sounds and feels like I have got square wheels on the old girl (not the missus, the townie!) all joking apart we use the townie all the time and I really need to get her going asap. Any help and or advice will be gratefully received.....thanx Marc

Mark. If you look further down the list of postings (18/2/04)you will see another request for help on 4WD front wheel bearing replacement/adjustment and some advice etc.
Yes, you can change the bearings yourself and it is a straightforward job but, after an inspection, it may be that all is that is required is an adjustment and grease pack.
Ian Dunse kindly sent me the service sheets showing all the details of this job and I can quite easily copy them and send them on if you wish
