Recently bought a 2ltr turbo diesel Town Ace super extra , first regisered 1990 (G).First morning it would not start, removed glow plugs but were not working.Obtain new ones but fond just as bad.Glow plugs are 7 volt ,check voltage too them found when not connected 10volt present as soon as connected volts drop to zero.Obtained a 12volt glow plug but same thing happens, all fuses Ok, at present back at dealers wher i bought it and hoping they can repair it.

You've got a short. Probably between the relay and the plugs. Is the 80A slow blow fuse ok?

Yes fuse appears to be OK but cannot remove the little blighter, do you know if it is a plug in type or a socket type(male or female) as i can get male types, also the relay looks a bit iffy, thats the one under the passenger seat, but this seems to be stuck as well, and i will need to obtain both before i destro them. Thanks

there's another thread on here dealing with this subject where I detailed how to remove the 80A fuse. What do you mean the relay looks iffy? test it before replacing - they cost about £85!

Got car back now, they told me it was tight tappets, but checked relay and it has had a link put in top to bottom , i thoght this was the contacts but must have been a common link.Does anyone have a diagramme of the relay as i don't know if they have shorted out the relay or bridged a broken link, many thanks

If they had shorted out the relay the plugs would operate all the time, this might be an earth, but without seeing the job I can't say for certain.
Bon chance

Where has the link to "tight tappets" come from?
Get another garage.

Well, (and this from personal experience...) the valve clearances open up as the engine warms. At one stage following a head job, mine would only run in two or three pots for the first ten secs or so. Turned out that the valve clearances (that I'd checked with the head on the bench) had disappeared once the head was bolted down. Doesn't take much valve opening to lose compression...
