(Home) No rear heater

Hi Clive.
Just had head gasket replaced on Spacecruiser,
refilled cooling system with 50/50 mixture, whilst refilling had both heaters set to hot, everything was fine. Now a couple of days later no heat from rear heater, but still heat from front heater,so I totally drained system, and repeated as I had done previously, cos I thought maybe airlock, still no luck,
please can you advise.
Apart from that cruiser still running beautifully.
Cheers

Probably a blockage, as the rear heater is part of the bypass circuit, no valve fitted...

Yep agree with blockage. Once warm feel the to and from pipes to the rear heater, up behind the mud flap infront of the battery box. Both should be hot, if yes then no blockage and you heater controls not working. If one hotter than the other a blockage some where, if one red hot the blockage is in the heater matrix.
As you have had engine work some debris may be around. Try a good flush with a flushing agent from the local parts shop.
When you have resolved all these little setbacks you we be so bored with nothing to do!

Hi Clive.
Flushed the system, including radiator, refilled slowly, front heater set to hot.rear heater pipes underneath are both hot.
Still no heat coming through rear heater.Controls are ok.
Could the rear heater itself be totaly blocked?.
Looking from outside down by battery box on the heater there is a valve operated by the heater switch inside, now this moves freely when you operate control, but still no heat. also was driving along the other day temp guage stayed in middle but burning smell for a while then cleared, any ideas?.
Wife is getting scared to drive it!.
This has all started since we changed head gasket.
Hope you can help
Cheers

Both pipes hot = flow through the matrix, therefore heater should be working, do you get cold air blowing out of the bottom vents, does the matrix get hot? If you take the intake grill off, the big one infront of the battery lid, see if the fins get hot. If yes then it is controls, if no then a blocked matrix.
Burning could be anything, if it does not return forget it, may just have been a drop of oil on the exhaust.

on my space crusier the rear heat stopped working and after 1 week of headbanging hubby got underneath removed the panel which covers the bottom of heat to find the cable had come off the heater butterfly and had closed its self to cool only

On my Space Cruiser the hot setting is cold, and the cold setting is hot!!
