(Home) Jam 2004 Brean #2

Hi guys and gals,

I am trying to guage roughly how many people are planning to attend the Brean Ace Jam in May?

Me and my tribe are definately going to be there, as are 2 other townie owners I have been in contact with.

So thats 3 plus Clive making 4 for definate.

If you are planning on coming post a message here to let everyone know who is and isn't likely to be there.

Similarly I am hoping to organise a couple of group type activities so any information on what you enjoy doing, would be usefull.(Clean Answers Only!)

Hope to see loads of you soon.

Tony & Tribe

- (#9181) sherrie, 11 Mar 04 12:30

hope to be there with a selection of kids plus wife if i can bribe her, she does not like camping much..........

- (#9181) neil rolfe, 11 Mar 04 15:47

Sherrie, and any others new to Ace Jams.
Long long ago a bunch of Townace owners got together and came up with the idea of a camping weekend. And so it came to pass, the Ace Jam was born. The original camp master has moved on from his Masterace but is still welcome as the event has been expanded to include all Toyota mported MPVs and of course the SpACEcruiser.
We talk and look at Toyotas all weekend, unless you are not interested (children, some partners etc.), then you spend all weekend talking about the others talking about Toyotas all weekend.
This year Tony Meese is trying to put together some activities, all very secret at the moment.
The Brean site is a large well equiped site, accross the road from a huge streeeeeetch of sand, and has plenty to do for young and old alike.
You are welcome to join us or just visit on any day.
I selected the site as if offers cheap "rally" rates if more than 10 stay. It allows tents, caravans and sleeping in the Toyota, to be all in one place, you often find tents in this field, campervans that..... Last year we nearly had a complete field to ourselves, as can be seen in the photographs. Have a look on Ace Answers under Ace Jam 2003

For those that have missed pervious postings.

Clive is organising an Ace Jam at Warren Farm Holiday Park in Brean(just south of Weston-Super-Mare) from 21st May to 23rd May.

Cost is approx £6 per vehicle per night electric hookup is an extra £2 per night. You can stay in vehicle , bring a tent or a caravan.

For details on the camp site visit :
www.warren-farm.co.uk

For a taste of what it is like click on "Return to Home Page" at the top of the screen and then click Ace Jam link, this link will take you to a review of last years Brean Ace Jam.

- (#9181) Tony, 12 Mar 04 01:39

will be at the jam, from friday hopefully if not will be there saturday

- (#9181) Ian, 12 Mar 04 04:13

Hi Tony and all

Had my Hiace for a few weeks now. I only live North Bristol, so won't be too much trouble to drag the caravan down there. The only thing that might stop us is we have our second bab's due Arpil 27th, so as long as that goes well and all are fit and health count me in!

If our first new Townie has had nothing else go wrong with it,dont mean to sound pessimistic but first the head gasket then problems with disel pump from day we brought it,it has been back for repair twice now & we have only just got it back! So all being well & tent etc sorted out then we will be there! Husband,3 kids & me.I look forward to it.Will post definite answer nearer time.

- (#9181) Paula (Dorset), 22 Mar 04 04:43

Just thought I would give an update as this.

So far we can expect the following :

Clive
Tony
Dave Bright
Jon Kennedy
Jason Bamford
Adrianne
Merv
Rhoda
Ian
Neil Rolfe
Karen & Wayne (potential owners)

What about all those that came last year?
Haven't had responses from Ian D, Mark, Mike, Dee, Joanna (sounds like a sixties band!)

Also I need suggestions as to the types of events you would like me to organise, I was thinking of a B-B-Q but I think this may be frowned upon by the site, so I was thinking of maybe moving this down to the Beach (weather permitting).

Also maybe a rounders or football match, depending on interest. If any of the above sounds good or if you have any other ideas post them here. Lets try and keep this post towards the top so any new visitors can see it.

Heres hoping to see you all on May 21st.

Cheers
Tony,
Teresa,
Christian,
Danny,
Suzie,
Jack,
Sam
and Millie

- (#9181) Tony, 31 Mar 04 01:03

Hi

Yes, Joanna (not from a 60s band) will probably be there. I haven't put my name down earlier, as still have probs with my dad's ill health and my slipped discs. But now I have an Epidural Steroid and I'm thinking of giving a friend my dad's key, so I can be off. Heaven knows - I need a break!!

How's about a Treasure Hunt? Just imagine loads of Townies driving mad around Brean, looking for clues, stopping and turning around 'cos they've gone the wrong way. We could end up having an Ace Jam JAM!

Barbeque sounds good, but I'm not into football. I'll stand and watch and shout for anyone. Do we make a donation or split the cost of the barbie, or do we bring our own?

- (#9181) Joanna, 4 Apr 04 05:41

how about a game of boules (think spelt right)for the more mature of us....

- (#9181) neil rolfe (torbay), 4 Apr 04 08:54

Hi Neil - I think I'm mature......, but what is "boules"?

- (#9181) Jo, 5 Apr 04 03:29

its a bit like bowling only french. The balls are solid metal, about the size of a tennis ball, and you dont roll them you throw them in a sand pit.

- (#9181) dave Bright (Bournemouth), 5 Apr 04 05:07

Dave Humphreys emailed me to say he will be there.

- (#9181) Clive, 5 Apr 04 06:13

works on grass as well....sort of. think i've got a set somewhere in the garage, how many are bring kids, am bring my tribe with me all 6 six of them, age range 13 to 3 months.... hope there are some playgrounds up there...have got small bbq set, would it be worth bring our own unless someone has half an oil drum and stand....

- (#9181) neil (torbay), 5 Apr 04 14:39

Yes plenty of play areas for children. Have a look at Warren-farm.co.uk for more details. Tony is/was checking with Warren Farm about the use of BBQ(s), don't know how he has got on.

- (#9181) Clive, 6 Apr 04 00:39

Our lad is 8, and all being well the new arrival will be about 4 weeks old so would probably give the footie a miss!

- (#9181) Jason Bamford, 6 Apr 04 02:56

Hi. I'm going to try to be there with my van. Might talk my mate into bringing his Townie too.
Angie x

- (#9181) old bird, 9 Apr 04 02:44

Hot of the press - well yesterday's post, and I think I've it right.
£4.20 a night - Free awnings Free dogs Free additional person(s) plus £1.40 electric hook up if required, based on 10 or more.
The real bonus would be if we get 26+ and the cost goes down to £3.60 plus £1.20 electric.
Perhaps you are thinking about it, can this tempt you ?
The attached Beachcomber Bar has an extensive evening menu, also a lunchtime snack menu. The on-site snack bar does a good breakfast/lunch/snack, and there is a very good chinese/chip shop not to far - so there is no need to cook if you don't want to! I'm happy to boil water for those of you who don't have a cooker.
On site lake fishing (don't know about seasons but you anglers will), shore sea fishing. Miles of sandy beach. Small fun fair not far away, Cheddar, Wells and Glastonbury all very near.
There will be avaialable a small selection of spares, some hand books and the odd manual on CD. I'm sure that there will also be some Townace.com window stickers. I run my ACE on waste chip shop oil, happy to talk to any one about that, and demonstrate the mouth watering aroma from burning the oil.
Still don't fancy camping out - well visit for the day.
All Toyota MPV welcome, yesy, yes, yes even Previas.

- (#9181) Clive (Bristol), 9 Apr 04 03:34

Hi All,
there certainly will be window stickers, Photos on http://ace.webspace.fish.co.uk/
I will bring the whole shop with me, so thats RM025E manuals, Float type radiator caps for those who can wait, and some suspension grease nipples and the Goldups left over spares as well.
Any other ideas, email me and I will try to include them.

- (#9181) dave Bright (Bournemouth), 9 Apr 04 09:19

should make it early on the sunday for the day with other half and kids-,
are most staying on site on last day?(going by previous years)

- (#9181) steve kendrick, 11 Apr 04 15:51

Sunday was the busiest for day trippers last year. Yes there will be plenty of people about. There is loads for children to do, and there should be plenty of children of all ages about.
- (#9181) Clive (Bristol), 12 Apr 04 02:30

how about pass the tesco chicken (like pass the parcel but use a chicken.

- (#9181) Sherri, 17 Apr 04 13:08

is anybody bring any temp alarms for selling.....

- (#9181) neil rolfe (torbay), 17 Apr 04 17:14

Dave mason has offerd to supply me with 4 or 5 alarms on sale or return, depending on his stock levels. I will have them for Brean and Bridport ace Jams. They are easy to fit, but I would be happy to advise on fitting on the day, or will help to fit them if necessary.

- (#9181) dave Bright (Bournemouth), 18 Apr 04 02:04

Haven't told the wife yet
but 'er' and 2 children will be there wiv me.
are dogs allowed on the site?

- (#9181) Andyacenovice , 18 Apr 04 04:15

Pets allowed under control (on a lead, what a goldfish on a lead?). Dog walking areas and poop bins on site, and there is the beach if you want to let it have a run.

- (#9181) Clive (Bristol), 18 Apr 04 06:28

great thanks dave, see you there.......

- (#9181) neil (torbat), 18 Apr 04 08:29

After a few weeks absence from civilisation (2 weeks surfing in woolacombe) I am back, no townie related problems going to or coming back from destination.

I am now fully refreshed and raring to get things organised for the Ace Jam in Brean.

I have checked with Warren Farm and their official line with regards to BBQs is :

"B.B.Q.s that are contained may be used throughout the site. Open fires are strictly prohibited !"

I am happy to source a couple of free standing metal BBQs and I think that the best timing for a Group BBQ would be Saturday early evening. We can organise the food and drink a little closer to the time.

Other ideas include :
Treasure/Scavenger Hunt
Family Rounders
Quiz (Townie Related)
Wheel Change Race(F1 style time challenge!)
Welly Whanging (? Careful how you say this!)

Attending So Far :

Ian
Neil Rolfe
Karen & Wayne
Jo Fudge
Paul Absalom
