(Home) Radiator cap

hi ,i cant get radiator cap off.it seems to have a spring attached and i dont wat to break it. i have not long bought it so i dont know if its not right cap or theres a special way to get it off. i was going to check water level , can anyone help or should i force it off, thanks, andy.

Normal twist off. The rubber on the mating surface with the housing make be stuck so go careful. Maybe a good idea to get a replacemnt cap anyway - see Ace answers for part number.

Andy, are you pressing the cap down as you twist to undo it? Yes,there is a light spring and a metal profile on the filler neck which safeguards the cap being blown off in the event of it being removed under pressure when the coolant is hot. It's similar to removing a domestic light bulb. It cannot be twisted until it is depressed in it's holder
