(Home) Door locking

Hi!
I just bought a Lite Ace and it's a terriffic little motor. Just the thing for the five kids and a lot more interesting than the usual people carriers. It does have a couple of things that need attending to but I'm a mechanic so it doesn't scare me!
I have a question on the central locking. I read on this site that the doors should all lock from the driver's key. Mine don't. I have to use the button to lock them, then lock the driver's door. It isn't the end of the world, but it would be more convenient if they locked with one action. Any ideas?
By the way, I felt a lot more comfortable with my purchase after finding this site.

Yep!
Driver's door key lock should LOCK all the car, but UNLOCK only the driver's door, this is anti-hijack (common problem in Japan). Best bet is to put a full alarm system with remote locking, this will involve a motor in the driver;s door, but no problem if you're in the game.

Regards Rob.

I've asked about this before and got nowhere, but I'll give it another try.
My car is a MasterAce Surf, 1990, 2w/d, Auto, 2CT engine
My door locking stopped working. When I test the terminals on the switch, I find no HT anywhere (two central terminals, I presume?) The switch appears to operate properly.
I have tried to trace the wiring- blue/red stripe, and blue/black stripe. but after entering the car, it disappears into the wiring harness under the dashboard.
Is there a fuse? none marked in the fuse box.
Would it be OK to feed an alternate supply to the switch?- why two separate HT supplies?
Someone mentioned a relay under the r/h of the dash, but I have none.
Any help would be appreciated.

i used to have a problem with the drivers lock not unlocking all the doors.however i eventually found that there is a terminal on the end of the lock barrel (ie inside the door) and the wire connected to it kept coming off.having made sure it now won't come off ,all the doors now open when the drivers lock is unlocked.this is on a 1992 royal lounge.

Hi I am sorry if I seem to have ignored anyone but some nice bod sent me a real nasty #Email which killed my machine even with antivirus on board
Still back to business if you have a surf ace or near variant if you send me an Email I will send you the colour codes for the central locking. The problem with the system usually is either the door wire as explained above or the relay mounted under the dash drivers side this is where you connect to make the vehicle centraly locked with a remote works great on mine and has done for nearly three years

Hello Everyone,

I've recently bought a Townace with central locking/immobiliser controlled from a remote key. Everything is functioning fine most of the time, but sometimes (I'm now having this problem), the central locking doesn't work when I press the button. The indicator lights go on and off in response, and the immobiliser resets when I press the button, so it's not the remote malfunctioning.
Even worse, when I lock all the doors manually, the central locking UNLOCKS all the doors automatically after about 10-20 minutes!
Have anyone had this problem before and/or does anyone know how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jake

Yes Jake,
Make sure the tailgate catch is closing correctly and give it a good dose of WD40 through the small gaps nearest the tailgate lip. Had this problem when my alarm was fitted the installer knew what to do so must be common with the Ace lock. I've had to do it myself since, my alarm just keeps on trying to lock the doors although they are locked, must just be that last bit of movement of the mechanism that WD40 frees up.
