(Home) Orangr light on dash board

Could any one tell me what the orange light near the end right of the dash board is, I can only describe it as looking like a conservatory. It stays on at start up for a few miles then goes off & comes on when I put my foot down.
Also the green Turbo light is no longer coming on, although it comes on at start up.( I can still hear the turbo whistle though so presume it is working!)
Thank you for a great site I have luckily answered my other two questions by looking through the site.

Hi Paula.
If it's the one bottom right hand side,it means low coolant, check and top-up as necessary,in radiator and expansion bottle.
Is that your townace I see parked on left hand side of road coming out of Dorchester towards Bridport?
Hope that helps
Cheers

Thanks Andy, yes to my despair it was low coolant!
I have only just got it back from the head gasket & cooling system being done.

The bloke we brought it from took it back to have it repaired! ??,I had only driven it home after buying it! Then when I got it back from being done & drove it home again, I got halfway home & could not get any furthur( came home on back of AA breakdown van).

Again it went back, turned out to be gummed up fuel pump. I have only just got it back again & I am not happy I will have to take it in to Dorchester to be looked at I think.

No I dont think that was mine on that road but I do live just outside of Dorchester.I have seen four other Ace's around Dorcester, and there always seems to be another one parked in Tesco when I'm in there!
It's funny how once you have got one you start seeing them everywhere!

Was it low in the filler neck as well?

Hi Clive,
I'm assuming by filler neck you mean the radiator neck? if so, then yes it was full.
I filled it to the full mark on expansion bottle & have been out in it on a few short trips & have not lost any more so far, so I'm hoping the that maybe it was to do with it going off & having the disel pump cleaned out(I dont know how).
I am not that happy as the expansion bottle is still dirty with brown stuff on the inside( I assume rust). They were surposed to clean it out, thankfully the coolant is clean & as it should be.

First there is a level on the expansion tank about halfway, you should fill to this level. You can take the tank out, disconnect the sender underneath, remove the cap and pipe then pull straight up. The proven way to clean inside is to put some small stones (no sharp edges) inside and slosh them about, changing the water until it is clean. Don't forget to empty the stones prior to refitting!
The good news is that it is full to the filler neck on the rad, or filler point to be exact. Any overflow may have been due to air locks, that may have now been expelled, or overfilling the expansion tank.

Clive,
Thanks for your advice,it is so helpful to have so many other people that all have a common interest and are willing to help others.
I can honestly say that I would not have got a Townie if I had not found this site when researching Townaces, and more to the point I dont think I would be keeping it,I have been in two minds over it but feel better just for being able to come on this site.
I actually feel quite enthusiastic again now. This site really makes a difference!
