(Home) Bike racks, exhausts & fuel guages

I took my 92 super extra to Halfords to get a bike carrier fitted, and the guy there ummed and ahhed and reckoned one couldn't be fitted. (seeing as how it's such a strange unusual car!! grr) Please tell me irt isn't true? Has anyone got one fitted and which kind? I want to be able to carry at least three bkies. Did you have to remove the rear parking mirror to fit it?

The other thing that bugs me is that the fuel guage doesn't return to zero when the key is removed (and I make sure to turn it all the way before pressing the button and removing) Is that anythng to worry about? It just stays at the level of fuel in the tank.

Also, dh wants to have kwik-fit do the exhaust - they've said they can get a suitable part, it's not THE right part but will work okay apparently. What do you think? will that be okay?

Sorry for all the questions and many thanks in advance! :o)

Can't help on the cycle rack
Fuel gauge will always show whats in the tank, so it's ok.
How much is the kwik-fit exhaust - they are around £250 for a complete stainless steel one from powerflow and the like! My own view is to give kwik-fit a miss.

I have used a Halfords cycle rack on my Townace for three bikes. You need the one that keeps the bikes up high so that the numberplate and lights are not obscured. Yes you have to remove the parking mirror but this is only four screws. The rack has four mounting points, two hooks at the top of the door, two hooks at the side two under the bumper that attach to the eyes undrneath. When the bike rack is fitted the rear door cannot be opened.

I have found the instructions for my bike carrier and it is a Halfords High Mount Cycle Carrier.

two bolts thru the back door and a thule 3 bike rack, door opens and thieves cannot remove rack or bikes.
turn the key back one more notch, every thing goes off clock, guage, little key light thing.
kwick fit r crap. spend money on a stainless steel rig with life time garantee. info on this site somewhere. i had mine done in london for abour £300 its great. [i had a SAAB exhaust fitted by KrapFitt and a weekl later it fell off]
