(Home) More starter trouble

Sorry about this!
Once more talking about starter trouble.
But its really had me beat for a while,I understand about the mysterious voltage drop ive got it, and i'm taking steps to rectify the problem, but I had two faults on my starter which was refusing to start my engine, the other one turns out to be the contacts in the starter solenoid, there are'nt any, they've completely worn away.
I have now found the problem and I thought that was the end of my trouble, but it wasn't.
I have read many of the threads on this matter and they all suggest the replacment of said contacts!!
GREAT!!
But where do you buy them???
You all seem to have lots of them hanging around in your garage, and ive looked but there not there!!
Please HELP!!!!!

Usually there's someone under the railway arches trading as "Auto Electrical" or similar. Go to www.yell.com and enter LOOKING FOR=Car electrics (plus your location). Most car parts shops can advise you too.

Pay about £5 for two contacts

Thanks for all your help dave, I tried a lot of places for those contacts and even with all your help I couldnt get anyone to sell me the ones I needed, they wanted to do a complete overhaul on my starter £50.00 and up and toyota wanted to sell me a new one at over £300.00 and that BBC spares wanted £95.00 exchange ( not very helpful)!!!!!!!!

So I made them my self!!!
I used the contact slider, out of an old industrial 63A electrical breaker!!
you will be pleased to know the car is working fine!

Due to the harder composition of the new contacts I dont think I will be suffering with the same burn out problems as the old copper contacts gave me!!!
thanks again!!!

Exactly what I'd've done if stuck. At a pinch you'd get by with contacts made from flattened copper pipe.

Clearly this is another spare for the Ace Answers online shop stock list - one day.
