(Home) Burning smell. Now van won't start

I got a jump start the other day and the person put the jumper cables on wrong. There were some sparks and then a bad smell. Checked the fuses in the front by the dashboard they are okay! What else could it be?

There are also fuses behind the drivers seat. Pull it forward, remove the flap in the floor, and its a block mounted on the bulkhead.

Ken

Hope i am wrong and when you start her up make sure all warning lights go out and that the electrical circuit is about 14volts dc at 2000rpm.

you can damage the charging circuit and the burning smell could be coming from alternator

Is your engine petrol and if so is it EFI? If so there could be damage to the electronics as they are full of diodes which seriously do not like reverse current! Check all the fuses and fuse links etc. first and if this does not show up anything, see if you are getting a spark at the plugs and if there is a feed to the injectors. Of course, if it is a diesel just ignore this! Good luck
