(Home) Glow plugs not working

Hello all! I have a 91 Townie with the diesel and my glow plugs only get power for a fraction of a second when I turn the ignition on... I suspect either the relay or timer is bad.... Exactly where are these located? I understand they are on the "B" pillar but can't find them... Can someone please give me a detailed description on how to locate these elusive parts? Thanks to everyone for the great feedback!

The primary relay is between the EGR and the airfilter, fastened to the rear bulkhead. The secondary afterglow relay is by the ECU in the B pillar. Also check the 80A slowblow fuse (the middleone) under the inner removable panel behind the driver's seat. I'll send you some pages from the manual.

Controller is in the B pillar in behind the seatbelt reel, as is one of the relays. the other relay is under the passenger seat.

But check the wiring and the temperature sensor first- less stripping to do , and more likely to have been disturbed, say in a previous h/g change...

Ian, Yes I got those pages! You sir are a life saver! I am in Japan and manuals are hard to come by here in english. I'm going out right now and start diging into the townie! Many thanks to everyone for the help!

Isn't nice to know that a UK message board set up for Japanease imports can even help people in Japan!
