Hi just got a 1991 2.2litre Townace Auto Diesel. The speedometer and mileometer were working the first couple of days and then just packed up. Rev counter and all the lights are working fine - any ideas as to what might be the problem.

1991- are you sure it's a 2.2litre?
Pre- facelift townies have a standard mechanical speedo & drive cable setup, 92-on facelifted models have an electronic jobbie with a sender screwed into the same location at the rear of the gearbox...

sounds like the cable has snapped or the drive gear at the bottem of the cable is gone, best way to find out is remove the speedo and diconnect the large cable on the back and see if you can turn it by hand, if it does then the cable is proberly dead....
