(Home) Float type radiator cap for Model F / Spacecruiser

Hi Dave and Clive.
I've noticed that we soon have to replace our radiator cap.
Do I buy the float type one as I've heard so much about them, also is it suitable for ours?,or try to get an original cap?,for a
Spacecruiser 2.0 GL Model F.
Cheers

If the rubber seal has some damage replace now!
Same pressure rating so should be ok.

Hi All

just spent lots of money on my cooling system and i have an original cap fitted, what is the best cap to fit and why do i keep hearing this float type cap,
i heard the float cap was good for getting out air from the system or if you got a small leak it will keep the system topped up,but i am not sure how it works or would i be wise to fit one,has this float
cap got a part number.

Hi Dennis the part number is 16401-64501.
They are available from Dave Coombs of Wight Motors by mail order, or at the Brean and Bridport ace jams. If I haven’t sold them all at Bridport I will send the remaining ones to Woodvale with Clive.
They are recommended because they are better able to allow the draw back process from the expansion tank on cool down. This is because the float opens up easier than a sprung loaded valve.
