(Home) EFI fuel filter

Hi All.
Where is the fuel filter located on a 1989 petrol EFI Townie? I have had a good look in all the obvious places but don't see anything that looks like a fuel filter.

Cylindrical metal jobbie bolted to the block as I recall. Can't remember which side tho...

I thought it used the plastic Spacecruiser type, held in a clip on the bulkhead near to the slow blow fuses?
Just follow the fuel line back and you should find one or the other. Let us know which it is so David or myself gets it right if there is a next time. Thanks

If it's EFI, the pump should be near the tank, so the filter has to handle 40-60psi. A number of petrol Toyotas use the same filter, it's tapped top and botton for a banjo bolt, and has a mounting bracket with a couple of tabs on.

Sorry Clive having yet another bad hair day. Yep on the block with banjo connection, will leak a lot of fuel when you undo the connection. Pump is in the tank.

Thanks for the help chaps but after a good search I have not found the fuel filter. I have traced the fuel lines from tank to engine and have found a fuel line that looks odd. It looks like two pieces of hose joined by a thin metal pipe. Could the previous owner have removed the fuel filter for some reason and joined the fuel line with the thin piece of pipe? I have a new unused Vauhall Cavalier fuel filter. Will this be ok to fit? It is for a 1.6i.

Right. Looked it up on the cd. For 3YEU, the filter looks like it's bolted to the r/h of the block, over the original mechanical pump's mounting. Metal pipe comes off the fuel rail and goes to a banjo at the top of the filter. Flexyhose with banjo connects to bottom of filter.
It's possible that someone has bridged something in the past. Be careful how you modify it tho. The intank pump will deliver 60psi -ish. If your Cavalier filter is a steel case for an injected model than it would be OK, plastic cased not OK...
