(Home) Jam 2004 Brean #3 & temperature gauge

i feel a bit silly asking this but how do i find out about the brean ace jam. i presume it is at brean near weston super mare. i'm not sure if i can go but i'd like a bit of info.

i bought my townie last year and am happy with it except that i think my fan's had it. i fitted a durite gauge after a boil up and find that around town the gauge sticks at around 90. however if i push it to 60-70 the temp goes over 100. is this ok? i'm thinking of sticking an electric fan on it bearing in mind the the cost of a new fan.

Hello Den,
any thing between 95 and 105 is normal on the durite gauge.

If you look a bit further down the main list of questions you will find a post for may ace jam in Brean. There are also two others, Bridport in dorset in early July and Woodvale in August.

Den. Have you checked the viscous coupling for operation through the temperature range? There are a number of checks which you can make to determine how it is functioning and these are detailed in the archives. Dave's mention of between 95-105 is, possibly, normal, but, in my view, it is too close to the high end for peace of mind. My Durite reads around 80/85 with a maximum of 90/95 when the weather gets really hot but, I pay a lot of attention to the thermostat. I have now removed my "winter" thermostat with it's one, 3 mm hole in the flange, and installed my "summer" thermostat, with it's three, 3mm holes in the flange, and never expect to see the Durite showing more than 100, even on some long hills in the hot weather.

Den,
Yes Brean near W-S-M. You will be most welcome to visit or stay on Friday Sat night. Plenty of people will be there to talk Townace. There will be some manuals, CDs and a few spares available, as well as some fun and games along with a possible evening BBQ.
Camping in Ace, tent or caravan all costs the same, day visits are free.
See you there.
Clive
