Have recently purchased my first "townie" (96, super extra limited 2.2 td, manual) and have had to have an immobiliser fitted as part of the insurance conditions.
my question; is there a warning sound when you leave the on the headlights after switching off the engine and opening the door? . I just wanted to confirm that there is such a function, I think there is, but because I have only owned it for two weeks I cannot remember if I have heard it or not. However since having the immobiliser fitted there is no warning sound!
Can anyone tell me if this sound exists or if I just imagined it!

Even on my ancient 1990 model there is a "lights on" warning buzzer so. I should think that your late model(envy)is sure to have this feature.

My 1989 Royal Lounge has a Scorpion Immobiliser fitted and it does not have a lights on alarm. Unusual on a Royal Lounge. Perhaps some types of immobiliser interfear with the lights on alarm. Is yours a Scorpion?

John, I don't think your warning buzzer is OE fit, AFAIK no Townies had a lights on buzzer, or other things you might expect, such as courtesy light delays. Crazy really when you get things like freezers & electric curtains, obviously have different buying criteria these Jap car owners.
Regards Rob.
BTW a lights on warning buzzer is cheap & easy to fit.

My 1990 4x4 Liteace buzzes dutifully if I turn off the ignition with the lights on. Don't even need to open the door.

My 1990 Royal Lounge has and my old Spacecruiser had one. Both with alarms and both still worked.

Thanks Rob. As I had to get an alarm/immobiliser installed, as an insurance condition when I first had my vehicle, perhaps my warning buzzer is a feature of that installation. I had never given it much thought and assumed that Toyota, who provide me with an audible warning when I select reverse gear and another if I go too fast, had built it in from the start.
